Return Home
Journey to a Seeing Eye dog

I slept fairly well last night, though I ended up staying up a bit late talking which was great. Woke up at 5:30, took her out, and eventually got a pee and a poop, yay. Then came back in, fed her and gave her 2 cups of water, got dressed, played with her a bit, and waiting for breakfast. Breakfast was a breakfast beredo with sausage, eggs, potato, and cheese, orange juice and coke. After that I went to see the nurse because my hands are so soft and I've not worked a dog in so long that they are cracking. She put some liquid skin stuff on and I'm going to use a broken in leash until my hands toughen up a bit. Then we loaded up and headed to the DTC. Today we did the modified South Street route. So Left out of the alley, to Deheart, which is a stop sign, then to Community place, another stop sign, then to Miller, a light, crossed and turned left, to South Street, Left again, Crossed Miller another light, back to Community place, a stop sign, then Deheart, another stop sign, then left, to Maple, then right, towards the DTC then a suggest right into the alley and back to the DTC. We encountered our first squirrel today, and a light correction was all she needed, then we encountered our first baracaid, which was 3 cones set up on the sidewalk, which we reworked a couple times because we wanted to build her confidence. She did make a slight work error when I suggested right into the DTC and misjudged my width so I bumped the wall a tiny bit with my hip so we reworked it and she did perfect. Oh and I punched my trainer today. Not on purpose, but I was trying to correct her, I forget for what now, and he was right behind me and I totally wailed him in the gut, whoops. LOL. Then we loaded up, came back, parked, she peed, and got 2 cups of water. Then talked to Derek a bit, and then had a traffic lecture, complete with great soundbites from Lucas. Then came back, talked to Derek more, and got a different leash to hopefully not hurt my hands so much while they toughen up. Lunch was chicken tortalini soup, a turkey, pesto, pepper, and fontain?, sandwich, and 2 cokes for me. After that I had my therapy session, and then went upstairs for a lecture about working in the house. Then we did the first part of obedience, the sit, heel, come, sit. Then came and hung out with Derek a little, then feed water park, she peed. Then we worked our dogs in the house for the first time to dinner which was garlic steak, roasted potatoes, mixed veggies, and coke for me. I have the rest of the night off other than 8 PM water park.
